The
region
of Lower Lusatia stretches from Lübbenau (Spreewald) in
the
north via Schwarzheide in the southwest to the polish
border in the
east. Important economical and political centres of Lower
Lusatia are
Cottbus, Spremberg and Senftenberg in the south of the
federal state of
Brandenburg and Hoyerswerda in the free state of Saxony.
Lower Lusatia possesses a good traffic infrastructure,
which enables an
efficient collaboration between all partners and
neighbouring
metropolitan areas.
History
For the last 100 years, the region has been affected by
extensive
open-pit lignite mining and subsequent mechanical and
chemical
processing of the lignite. After discontinuation of mining
at the
beginning of the nineteen-nineties, the region has
struggled to gain a
new economical profile. Apart from the preservation of the
chemical
industry site of Schwarzheide (BASF), the development of
tourist-orientated projects in the post-mining reclaimed
land and
preserving the traditional existing farming, there is the
necessity of
new projects to bring regional development to a good base.
Medicinal Diagnostics
Especially the diagnostics laboratories of Dr. Torausch
& Dr.
Mydlak (Cottbus), Klinikum Niederlausitz (Senftenberg),
Carl-Thiem-Klinikum Cottbus, Privatlabor Dr. Schierz
(Elsterwerda) and
Medizinisches Fachlabor Bautzen are of a special interest
to the
research association BioResponse. As another advantageous
condition for
further development of expertise in clinical diagnostics,
we consider
the high scientific and technical standard of education
(engineers and
lab technicians) of potential co-workers.
